TAROT CARD DECKS 39

Tarot decks are sets of 78 cards that are used for divination, self-exploration, and spiritual growth. The deck is divided into two main groups: the Major Arcana (22 cards) and the Minor Arcana (56 cards).

The concept for Adapt Tarot is rooted in a love for the traditional Rider-Waite deck and the urge to make it more inclusive, contemporary, and applicable to people reading tarot today. It was also made from a place of resourcefulness, to create artwork using materials that otherwise would have been thrown away. Delilah spent her time rummaging through thrift stores, bins, and other forgotten or abandoned places to find the images that have come together to make this collection. This 78-card collection contains 22 major arcana cards and 56 minor arcana cards. They are all numbered, and all the minor cards fall into one of the four suits: cups, wands, swords, or pentacles; each suit is associated with one of the four elements; water, fire, air, or earth. The origin of the tarot is unknown, which is what makes it so magical and inclusive. There are many origin stories but no concrete answer. What keeps our minds questioning can lead us into many interesting places. You are the interpreter of your own synchronicities. Use this deck to tap into your intuition and follow the symbols that have meaning to you.

Astro Tarot Deck

THE WORLD'S FIRST ASTROLOGY BASED TAROT DECK

I expect you're wondering what is so different about my Astro-Tarot deck. Well, I had been using the classic tarot pack for years when I first began to think about devising my own version instead, about 15 years ago. Many people are familiar with the ordinary pack, but I wanted to create something new, exciting and innovative, combining my knowledge of the tarot with my experience of astrology.
I wanted to keep the 22 Major Arcana cards of the classic tarot because they are so important and rich in meaning, mythology and wisdom. Still, because the Minor Arcana deals with the nitty-gritty details of life, I felt it would be a challenge to create my own interpretation of them, drawing on my knowledge of astrology. Incidentally, that doesn't mean the traditional Minor Arcana cards are unimportant or outdated, simply that I wanted to devise my own version of them, using fresh and different images. So what exactly does my Astro- Tarot pack consist of?
Taking them in their numerical order (which is the order followed in this book), these are the cards I chose.
 First come the 22 cards of the Major Arcana, which are so steeped in symbolism. Because the Fool, which is the first card of the Major Arcana, traditionally doesn't have a number, these cards are numbered from 0-21.
 Next come the aces of the four suits from the traditional Minor Arcana (Pentacles, Wands, Swords and Cups). I kept the aces because they represent new beginnings and assertion (or a lack of it). They are numbered from 22-25.
 After them are the 12 Sun signs of the Western zodiac, which run from Aries to Pisces. I chose them because they represent the cosmic journey we take through life. They are numbered from 26-37.
 Then 12 signs of the Chinese horoscope follow next, running from the Rat to the Boar. I included them because Chinese horoscopes are based on the movements of the Moon, and therefore represent our emotions, senses, psychic side and spirituality. They are numbered from 38-49.

Lauron William de Laurence was an American author and publisher on occult and spiritual topics.
Although he is reviled for his plagiarism of A.E. Waite's 1910 book The Pictorial Key to the Tarot, and the S.L. MacGregor Mathers version of the Key of Solomon, he also wrote his own works, including The Master Key a personal development book.
Despite being a blatant copy of Pam’s art, it is an important note (questionable ethics aside) that this was the deck that introduced Americans to the tarot. Due to the Great War (WWI) the early Rider decks never made it to the states in large numbers.

Petit Jeu Lenormand Deck

TAROT, TAROT CARDS, TAROT DECK, LENORMAND, LENORMAND CARDS, LENORMAND DECKS

This is a very rare and beautiful deck. The Daveluy Lenormand deck was produced in Bruges, Belgium c. 1860.

Lenormand originated in Germany as a card game (The Game of Hope) in the 18th century. It evolved into a 36-card oracle for divination in the 19th century. The name Lenormand comes from the famed French fortune-teller Mlle. Maria-Anne Lenormand.

While Tarot can be used for deeper reflection on one’s psyche, emotions, motives and spirituality, Lenormand is at its best with more tactical and practice aspects of life. It’s a blunt and direct system and works well for predictive readings. Each Lenormand card has a fixed/limited meaning and is meant to be read in pairs or triplets to create sentences.

Rider Waite Black & White Tarot

TAROT IN BLACK & WHITE

The Rider-Waite Tarot is a popular deck of tarot cards that was first published in 1910 by the occultist A.E. Waite and the artist Pamela Colman Smith. It is one of the most widely recognized and influential decks in the tarot community and has had a significant impact on the modern interpretation of tarot symbolism.

The Rider-Waite Tarot features 78 cards, divided into the Major Arcana and Minor Arcana. The Major Arcana consists of 22 cards, each depicting a unique symbol or archetype, such as The Fool, The Magician, The High Priestess, The Emperor, The Hanged Man, and The World. The Minor Arcana consists of 56 cards, divided into four suits (Pentacles, Swords, Cups, and Wands), each with cards numbered Ace to Ten, plus four Court Cards (Page, Knight, Queen, and King).

The Rider-Waite Tarot is known for its rich symbolism and detailed illustrations, which provide a visual narrative for each card's meaning. The images on the cards are designed to evoke emotions and stimulate the imagination, allowing the reader to connect with the cards on a deeper level and gain insights into their lives.

Overall, the Rider-Waite Tarot is a powerful tool for self-discovery, spiritual growth, and divination. It can help individuals gain a better understanding of themselves, their relationships, and their life path, and provide guidance and support through challenging times.

The Sola Busca tarot is the earliest completely extant example of a 78-card tarot deck. The Latin motto TRAHOR FATIS (I am drawn by Fate) appears four times in the Tarot masterpiece of the Italian Renaissance, the Sola Busca deck, and over a procession of ancient Greek and Roman heroes.
The characters depicted in the Sola-Busca cards include Nebuchadnezzar and Gaius Marius, the uncle of Julius Caesar. The trumps loosely follow the rise and fall of the Roman Empire, but also include members of the Roman Pantheon such as Bacchus.
The similarity between some of the artwork of the ubiquitous Rider-Waite-Smith deck of 1909 (see links at end of page) and that of the Sola-Busca indicates that the artist of the former, Pamela Colman Smith, drew inspiration from the earlier work. Smith created the art for the Rider deck two years after the exhibition of a set of black-and-white photographs of the Sola-Busca deck by the British Museum.
